I can’t imagine a weekend without an appropriate cup of coffee – even better when it’s combined with a book or a newspaper and a bit of sun. Therefore, this is my number one place to go to when going for coffee in Amsterdam. The coffee is great, the place cosy, and their terrace phenomenal.
To make one thing clear: some people say you get the best Dutch apple pie at Winkel (check the Cafe Winkel 43 article), but in my case, I’d rather have the one at Espressofabriek.
Suggestion: ask for iced cascara on hung-over days. This cold drink is extracted from the peel of the coffee berry and served with a slice of orange. It’s not too sweet – quite bitter actually – really refreshing and perfect when you’re in need of a dose of caffeine – but can’t cope with coffee.
Since the place has won Best Independent Coffee Bar a few years back, it might be quite busy during weekends, but the coffee (and the cake) is definitely worth the wait.
