Winter is here and the days are short, cold and dark now in Amsterdam – ’tis the season for cozy dinners with friends and family. Fondue Oost on the Javastraat in Amsterdam East is the perfect place to spend a long relaxed evening with warming comfort food.
Picture yourself sitting inside this cozy, dimly lit restaurant, with the wind and rain beating against the window; in front of you there are a variety of cheese fondues, snacks and wine. Candles are flickering and there is music in the background. Sound perfect or what?
The menu centers around cheese fondue and they do it perfectly. There are a few different flavours to choose from (all to share) like jalapeno, blue cheese, truffle or pesto with Spanish ham. The last two are my absolute favourites. And if someone happens to prefer a plain fondue, you can always ask for the filling to be served separately. On top of that the staff I’ve encountered were friendly and attentive, and more than happy to give their personal recommendations.
