Hoofddorpplein is only a few doorsteps from my apartment and has a variety of shops, cafes and restaurants. Although this area is still part of the city center and not too far from touristic sights such as Museumplein and the Vondelpark, I experience there to be a local atmosphere in this neighbourhood. Once a year local entrepreneurs join forces and organize the ‘Hoofddorpplein buurtfestijn’ to promote their shops, which include a florist with a wonderful assortment, a variety of Asian Toko’s, a lovely toy store and concept shop WEN.
Furthermore, I can often be found at Drovers Dog for breakfast or lunch or for their amazing veggie burgers. Other favorites are Grannies (homemade Dutch dishes), Foodbar 63 Graden (Italian cuisine), Helder (Mediterranean), and Caffenation (casual coffeebar) are favorites for dinner or drinks.
Although I personally feel most comfortable exploring new locations and enjoy the hustle and bustle of a big city, it can be nice to feel connected to a certain area, and that’s what this place stands for me.
