After living in Amsterdam for some time, it becomes more of a challenge to organize a nice day with the family (in this case for my mom’s birthday) and also try a new and surprising activity. So, many thanks to the group behind Mystery City in helping me accomplish this!
It describes itself as ‘a cross between a treasure hunt and an escape room, where exploration, puzzle-solving and little-known stories from history are combined to offer an alternative way to explore the city’.
Easy peasy: just gather a group of friends, family or colleagues to play this with. Book a date and time on their website and I assure you, you will have a wonderful couple of hours in which you will get to learn about the history of Amsterdam, make a nice tour throughout the city and engage in some brain training.
Just beware that some members will show their true colours in how well they can handle time pressure and deal with frustration when solving the puzzles.
Nevertheless, it is highly recommended to do and also perfect for a mixed group of people (Dutch and foreign) as it is offered in multiple languages.
