The OBA is the abbreviation for ‘Openbare Bibliotheken Amsterdam’. This institution supervises all public libraries around the city. As reading has always been one of my favorite leisure activities, I highly value the necessity of a good network of facilities that support the promotion of books. Although I am not a contributing member, I like to go to one of the establishments that can be found in every corner of the city (look for a location nearby on their website).
My favorite is the big one next to Central Station that was only recently renovated. It is 7 floors high and offers a wide variety of books (hobby, fiction, study, etc.) as well as a restaurant on their top floor. It’s great that there are chairs placed just in front of the windows with an amazing view and plenty of study cabinets (unfortunately, the internet is not free) and tables to spend your time at your own pace.
Furthermore, the institution organizes various societal activities which adds up to a full agenda meant for the entire population.
