Restaurant Stork – Fishy Friday afternoons

There is something different about Friday afternoons, especially when the weather is hot. After a week of working and having to spend that last day inside while the weather is telling you to go out, the afternoon is the reward: a riverside view, a cold drink and a plate of seafood. And I know just the place: Restaurant Stork.

Located along the river IJ, Stork is my place of choice to spend a warm Friday afternoon. The first reason, is the view. Ok, the view of the city is not as nice as you would get in Paris or Istanbul, but you’re still looking out over a river and watching the boats go by as the sun goes down. You could do much worse.

The second reason is the plate of seafood you should order. Mussels, crab, lobster, and shrimp together with a cold glass of wine or beer. Slurping and picking your way through the plate full of shellfish and crustaceans, you will soon forget about all your worries of the past week. Oh, and don’t forget to order oyster.

And when you have seen the sun go down and it is getting too chilly to stay outside, you will walk home feeling like it is the weekend. The only thing left to do is to remember to come back for lunch on Saturday or Sunday.
