Every once and a while I want to get lost. And it’s not the map watching, people asking, street sign watching kinda lost. It’s lost in the night with friends at parties or places we actually wish we weren’t but the night brought us there. Many nights have brought me to Savoy.
In the recent years I’ve been to Savoy a couple of times and I’ve noticed there are some guidelines or rules, which you’ll follow automatically.
1. Don’t ever plan your visit to Savoy (your brain will remember the address, no worries)
2. Never go to Savoy alone
3. Always bring some people you don’t know
4. Never remember where you came from (do not come from home)
5. Never remember how you got home (safely)
6. Always enter after 01:30
Like I said, following these rules is easy for me, and they set up a good night instantly. Once you’re in Savoy you can be who you want to be. The DJ will play ANY song you want. Drinks are cheap. The bar ladies (who are all out of work prostitutes) set the right mood and if you feel like relaxing, you can sit on one of the love seats and enjoy the crowd (someone told me there are also “peeskamers” (prostitute’s workroom) upstairs, only to be found by those looking for it).
Savoy is the perfect place to end a night of pub crawling, to mix in with locals, dance and sing with everybody and forget what your night was all about.
