Summer is in full swing in Amsterdam and there is no season I love more in this city. Besides sitting out on the canals, chilling in the park, attending festivals, and it being light until 22:00, this is the summer event that I look forward to every year.
Summer Breeze is the weekly latin night in the Westerpark that is known for its good music, good vibes, and of course dancing the night away. Held in the WesterUnie, there are four main areas that are dedicated to salsa, bachata, merengue and kizomba. The outside dance floor is the place to be on sultry summer evenings, where you can dance outside until the sun goes down and the breeze starts to cool you off. When you head inside be prepared for it to be hot and steamy (literally) on the upper salsa deck!
If you’re not that confident with your dancing skills, don’t fret – they also have free workshops at the start of every evening. And of course you can also down some liquid courage at the bar before you hit the dance floor. Want to dine and dance? Make reservations to eat outside on the Westergasterras and make a night of it – just give yourself enough time for your food to go down!
*Every other Thursday in June & July
