Every now and then I’m in need of a dark corner to sit in, drink beer and air-drum along to loud metal. For these needs The Cave is the best place to go. Metalheads and rockers unite in this small venue just around the corner of Leidseplein, located in -where else- a dark basement of one of the typical Dutch canal houses.
The Cave is open every night of the week, which I love, and often there are metal bands performing on the mini-stage or even Metal-related pub quizzes from time to time. As this club is in the city centre, the audience is a healthy mix of tourists and locals that already have one thing in common: they all appreciate the sound of distorted guitars and double bass pedals. Maybe that’s why the atmosphere in the Cave is super friendly and positive – not despite, but because of – the loud music and the dark corners.
