During the period I studied at the University of Amsterdam I’ve spent most of my time in the eastern part of the city and more specifically the area around Roeterseiland. In order to make those college days more bearable, I treated myself from time to time with a nice lunch, coffee, or pastry.
Most of my favorites are located on the Wibautstraat, which is a long street connecting the University area to the outer ring road. At STEK for example I tend to meet with friends for a lovely breakfast or lunch as if you are in your own kitchen. Beter & Leuk offers homemade products with a variety of choice in vegetarian, vegan and allergy-free. I enjoyed their high-tea (definitely worth trying), but they serve every meal from breakfast up until takeaway dinner options. Benji’s describes itself as an ‘urban jungle’ since their interior combines green natural elements inspired by the tropical spheres of Bali and menu offerings such as the ‘buddha’ and ‘jungle bowl’. Furthermore other establishments of Bagels & Beans, Drover’s Dog, and The Breakfast Club can be found on this street, offering enough choice to sit and enjoy a wholesome meal.
