Balls & Glory, one of my favorite lunch spots close to my work at the vibrant spot ”t Eilandje’, close to the museum MAS (check the MAS article).
What do they serve: meat and vegetarian balls. Balls!? Yes, Belgian people love eating minced meat, and Balls & Glory rolls and stuffs them with delicious sauce (e.g. mushroom and pepper, chicken and truffle, cauliflower and pickles, …). The balls are accompanied with a fresh funky salad or with mashed potatoes.
Start your aperitif here with a fresh lemon/ginger lemonade or a typical Belgian beer Vedett. And you can ask for happy balls = smaller bite-sized balls. Water is for free. A dish (meatball with salad or meatball with mashed potatoes cost around 14 euro).
No time to eat there? Sometimes I order take-away (€5.50 for 1 ball take-away or 12 euro for full dish take-away).
This chain is located in 4 Belgian cities (Leuven, Brussels, Ghent and Antwerp). What I like in all cities: this restaurant is always located in fashionable buildings, with an urban interior. During spring time, it is lovely to sit inside and see the lights of the boats in the little harbor across the street. If you are lucky and you have some spring sun: crab a seat on their lovely terrace.
