Baraque Friture Antwerp

Baraque Friture – Fine dine friterie

I don’t know why they call it French fries; no offense to the French, but it is definitely a Belgian specialty! I know you can go to a ‘frituur’ on almost every corner in Antwerp, but why not go to Marnixplaats? Have a seat in Baraque Friture, where the ceiling and walls of the light corner building give the impression of being a wooden puzzle.

When in need of comfort food, what would make you happy? Choose between the ten nice, classic Belgian dishes on the board and decide which portion of fries you want on the side: big, bigger of biggest. Most of the dishes are for meat lovers, but there is also a fish and veggie plate on the menu.

The Vol-au-Vent is really delicious: soft chicken stew with big balls of minced chicken and mushrooms. And of course the fries: golden yellow and crispy, like they should be!

As in the old days, you can bring your own pot to fill up with fries to take home. For real, that’s what my grandma did in the eighties. Ah, sweet memories!
