Dear readers,
This is the botanical garden (botanische tuin/Den Botaniek) of Antwerp. It is not super big but also not that packed, there will be room for you to go and sit there. It is located next to the Mechelsplein (a really cosy square with nice pubs!).
The garden offers many interesting plants. Next to the garden itself, there is also a greenhouse that hosts cacti and other exotic plants. All of these are accompanied by plaques with their names, so not only is it a nice place to take a break from exploring my beautiful city, but it is also interesting for plant enthusiasts.
The garden also hosts some art and a poem! The poem was written by one of our previous city poets (stadsdichter), that is a tradition we have here in Antwerp where city poets get chosen every year! This poem was written in 2013 by Peter Holvoet-Hanssen, our city poet from 2010-2011. I hope you can find and read the poem!
