De Taloorkes – Traditional Belgian food

This article is not merely another restaurant review. Or is it? My words will not have a miraculous influence on your traveling experience but visiting this spot may.

High school was hard for me. I was a punching bag for bullies in training. I am not asking for your sympathy. I just want to state that while running from the devil one works up an appetite. Needless to say, I needed some hearty comfort food after a hard knock day of indoctrination.

Why is this relevant? Finding the ‘Taloorkes’ was one of the purest forms of nostalgia for me. They serve the qualitative local dishes I loved as a teenager. Savoring them without preparing mentally for the next bully in line was a relief. Even my mom, who excels in cooking Belgian comfort food, loves this restaurant. Seeing that I’ve turned out fabulous, her opinion matters in this little evaluation.

The menu is written on the walls. I praise their ‘stoofvlees’, ‘witloof in de oven’ and their ‘videe.’ All three courses are mouthwatering. The daily specials are a safe choice for those on a shoestring budget.

You’ve tried our addictive fries, chocolates, waffles and local beers. Are you wondering what else Belgium has to offer? If so, I highly recommend this establishment for a genuine Belgian meal. Give it a try, my guinea-pig. There’s not much more to say except that Pavlov has got nothing to do with me drooling over my keyboard at this moment in time.
