If you are visiting Antwerp on a Sunday and you like to shop for things you don’t need, but you really really want, this is the place you want to go. On a Sunday, the Hoogstraat is crowded with locals who are drinking a beer in the early morning, shopping for cheap gadgets, trickle in second-hand books, enjoying a breakfast (Daily roast for example) or lunch (Falafel Tof for example) in the early sun.
Personally, I think the most interesting thing of the Hoogstraat is watching all types of people wandering around, minding there own business. Find yourself a spot in a bar or terrace with a good view on the people passing by; be inspired by the way they are dressed or by their interest in things you missed on first sight.
The Hoogstraat is an important connection between the old Grand place, the Vlaaikesgang and the Kloosterstraat, so the Hoogstraat is not to be missed out on.
