By far my favorite bar (also because it is the homebase of my football team), it’s located at the coziest square in Antwerp (Berchem): Dageraad. Stand in the middle of the square and look above you: 300 stars made out of a light carpet.
And even during freezing temperature, the terrace is always crowded. They have terrace heaters, nice!
Dageraad is home to a mishmash of people: young, old, hipsters, alternative, locals, ‘town fools’, young families…
Are you with kids?: enjoy a Sunday afternoon in Zeezicht, while the children play on the square or in the playground on the square, probably with local kids.
At Zeezicht, the terrace never closes. Come here during winter time, and even then, you will find a full terrace (thanks to the heating lights outside).
Check the website or Facebook for events in Zeezicht or on the square. If there is a Belgian national football match there is a big screen inside and outside the bar where you can follow the game, surrounded by other football fans.
Hungry? Check the menu behind the bar and enjoy a locally made snack.
Personal tip: Ask for the ‘Luikse worstjes’, those are small minced meat sausages in a Belgian syrup sauce. They’re ideal when paired with a good full Belgian beer.
