The ZOO of Antwerp dates way back to July 1843. Therefore, it’s the oldest zoo in Belgium and one of the oldest ones worldwide. Nevertheless, today it’s more vibrant than ever! When visiting Antwerp, you certainly have to pay this pearl of nature a visit too. It’s located right next to the Central Station, so you can’t miss it. It’s good for kids, but for grownups too!
Stroll through the green oasis and discover the historical architecture that surrounds it. While doing so, make sure you enjoy the colorful flamingos and the impressive gorillas and chimpanzees. Take a walk through the buffalo savannah and spot birds everywhere you go. Travel to the penguins and seals or feel the giant elephants walk by while you’re enjoying your lunch on a bench. Let’s not forget all the other animals, too, like the lions, leopards, amphibians, zebras and giraffes.
One of the most beautiful areas to visit is the butterfly garden. Be enchanted as the butterflies fly over your head or rest on your shoulder. Their fluttering sounds will ease your mind within a second!
