1. Why is the city guide I purchased not working?

Broken maps / no spots shown / city guide not fully downloaded?

You probably experienced a temporary Internet connection error while downloading, or you’re using an outdated version of our app. It’s easy to resolve!

1. Delete your app and download the latest version from the App Store
2. Click “restore purchases” on the top right of the the start-up page to download all previously purchased city guides for free again.

Make sure you’re on WIFI, and do not to switch between applications. It can take up to 10 minutes to download a complete city guide, as all maps are stored offline in the app.

2. How can I re-install a previously purchased city guide for free?

Just click “restore purchases” on the top right of the the start-up page (list of list of cities) to download all previously purchased city guides for free again.

If you have purchased many city guides and just want to reinsrtall, you can also just “buy” the city guide again. Apple will recognize your purchase after your click “buy” and will ask you to confirm if you want to download the previously paid for city guide again.

Make sure you’re on WIFI, and do not to switch between applications. It can take up to 10 minutes to download a complete city guide, as all maps are stored offline in the app.

3. Why can’t I log in to the app?

The login in our app is only for internal users. The protect the privacy of our users we don’t store any of your data! You don’t need to log in to restore city guides you purchased earlier. See previous question!

If you’re an internal user and have lost your password, click here to reset it.

4. Is the app 100% offline?

Yes, all the tips and maps in all city guides work completely offline. You can turn your internet connection off, and everything will work!

Only if you visit an external link (which you won’t have to do – all info is included in the app) you have to be online to open it. We warn you with a pop-up, so don’t worry!

5. How do you keep the tips up-to-date?

Our Spotters write about their favorite spots only – spots they visit frequently. They constantly update their articles, to keep them up-to-date and up-to-season. Whenever you’re online, the app notifies you when there are updates available. If you choose so, the city guide will be updated – for free of course!

6. Are updates free?

All updates of this app and the city guides will always be free.

7. Can I save my favorite tips?

Yes! if you want the app to remember a certain spot, you can store it as a “favorite” in a city guide. On the map you can easily recognize spots you favorited.

8.Do I need a GPS?

You can use the city guide on an Apple device without a GPS (iPod). For the best user experience however, we advise you to use an iPhone or iPad with GPS and turn on “location services”. We do not track or save any information about your whereabouts.

9. Can I switch to or from Android for free?

Congratulations with your new phone :). We will help you switch for free by refunding your double purchases. Unfortunately Google & Apple don’t play well together and especially Apple does not make it easy to refund, so it takes a few steps.

Please:
1) Make sure you purchased the same city guide for both Android and iOS
2) On your iPhone take a screenshot of the opening screen of the app (scroll and take several screenshots if needed) so we can see which city guides you purchased.
3) Send an email to apple-support@spottedbylocals.com to this email with
> Your Paypal email address for the refund. If you don’t have one, a Paypal email account will be created when you accept the payment.
