Enikos is my favorite place in Athens for drinks and deep, meaningful conversations. There are many other nice bars in which you can have the same thing but there’s something about Enikos that opens up people to discuss about their inner thoughts and feelings.
Maybe it’s the bohemian character of the area and especially this street, the low lighting, the very discreet jazz music in the background. Even the positioning of the tables is in good distance from each other, which makes this bar the ideal place to share secrets.
It is one of the few bars which opens only at night and serves just drinks. No tea, no coffee, just straight alcohol, and of course some soft drinks for those who don’t like alcoholic drinks.
If I had to describe Enikos very shortly, I would just say that If Hemingway had a bar stop in Athens, that would probably be it.
In the area of Exarcheia which is now changing in a very dark way, Enikos is still there, always classic and maintaining the special vibe of this neighborhood.
