Working at a travel agency has many positive sides. One of them is that my clients recommend me restaurants in Athens related to the places they’ve visited & fallen in love with. This is how I found out about “Evgenios”, a restaurant with gastronomical gems from Kazakhstan!
The restaurant is quite small, simply decorated, with flags from Kazakhstan on the walls & retro ornaments from the ’80s. The food is more than amazing, and you can try food that you haven’t tasted before! Like the mushroom salad where the mushrooms resemble seaweed, a very spice sour garbage that is cooked in a Korean way, and of course, you can taste a lot of meat – you can ask for the famous shashlik – chicken or lamb. We tasted the lamb shashlik and it was some of the tastiest meat we’d ever had!
While eating you feel like you are at a Eurovision Song Contest, as there’s always music from Kazakhstan and somehow it gave me the feeling of Eurovision.
What I also enjoyed is that people from that country are gathering there and drinking tea while making conversation in their own language. That made me feel like I would like to visit Astana right now!
PS 1: It is good to make a telephone call to make a reservation as the place is small. And if you want to taste “Kazakhstani meat” you should order it 2 days in advance!
PS 2: You can take bus 911 that starts from Syggrou – Fix. Get off at bus stop Aslanoglou.
