At the up-and-coming neighborhood around Athinas Street, you can look for Formaika at Karori street, inside a hall. It is a co-operative “kafeneio” where you can enjoy your coffee in the morning, your beer in the evening and a glass of raki late at night while you’re trying their really tasty food. You can choose among eggplant salad, small fish and other delicious salads!
But what makes it special? First, its aesthetics! A plastic globe above the bar, retro tables and chairs that make you feel like you’ve visited a house from the ’60s. Second: the music! The music that the owners choose for you is so special. From interwar jazz melodies to Tindersticks and Greek traditional melodies. Some nights, if you are lucky, you can listen to live rebetika that the friends of Formaika will play for you.
Every Friday you can have one drink, and the second one will be free! 1+1 for your Friday nights.
An easy-going place for easy-going days and nights.
PS: Closed until end of August.
