There is a Greek saying that literally translated, says “Which good wind brings you here?”. Kalos Aeras, which means “fair wind” in Greek, was named in honor of Buenos Aires where Christos, the owner of the place, spent several years working as an architect and chef. And you guessed it… Buenos Aires means “fair wind” as well. A few years back he decided that it was time to return and be a full-time chef. He wanted to recreate the atmosphere of old times when parties and family dinners were special occasions. And what better place to host his friends than his grandparents’ lovely home?
Although Kalos Aeras is located on a busy road, there is no noise penetrating the leafy veranda, and stepping into the house is like time-traveling back to the 60s. Christos has preserved much of the family history by making minimal changes to the décor and using the recipes his grandmother taught him.
I was introduced to Christos and Kalos Aeras by a mutual friend and felt the hospitality and nostalgia the moment I stepped inside. The last time I was there I tried the fig tart that brought tears to my eyes. However, you probably won’t have the chance to try this tart yourself, as the menu, which could be described as Mediterranean fused with Latin American, changes every month. There's a set 5-course meal where you can choose between two dishes for each course. You will truly feel like a good wind brought you here.

The house is known for the two wonderful Caryatid sculptures located on the balcony of its facade. The house was built in the late 19th century and is a typical example of Athenian neoclassicism.

It does not matter what you order when you visit Mouries because everything is made with the same care (however, my favorite dish here is the meatballs).

Agios Ioannis of the Column is one of the most interesting hidden attractions in the center of Athens. The church was built in the 6th century AD, and its sanctuary was formed around an ancient Corinthian column.

Street art has developed mainly in large urban centres, and Athens is no exception. The Psirri neighbourhood in the city centre is inextricably linked to the history of street art in Athens.

Many artists, musicians, actors, and painters have relocated to Mets, giving it a more bohemian feel. There are only a handful of shops, cafes, bars, and restaurants in the area, a fact that creates a more intimate and cosy atmosphere.

My favourite burger is the Bacon Mushroom Melt, and my favourite sandwich is the Tika, which is slightly spicy and causes a chain of flavour explosions!
