Little John on Gennaiou Kolokotroni & Matrozou and right across the street from Lelos (check out my article) is my number one choice for take-away coffee in Athens. It being so close to my place probably has a lot to do with it — I’ve already lost count of the times I’ve come here, barely having woken up, for a cup of coffee to enjoy at home — but it’s definitely not only how close it is to my den that makes this cafe special.
The guys who run (literally tiny) Little John are always nice and accommodating. They also have baked goods — I would definitely recommend trying the Zeos bread which is like a round loaf. At 2€ it’s not cheap, but it’s soft and very tasty.
A cappuccino usually costs 1.70€ here, but because I always bring my reusable cup, these guys give me 0.20€ discount — 1.50€ for a decent cup of to-go coffee is not bad at all.
They recently launched their happy hour (14:00 – 17:00 every day) when all coffees go for €1.50. So grab one and head over to Philopappou Hill that’s less than a five-minute walk away to catch some of the best views in Athens.
