Οnce, I travelled to East Creta in Lasithi, and my friend who lives there offered me to taste a cheese called “Xigalo Kouvaraki“. Since then, whenever I’ve travelled to Crete, my first walk has been to go to shops to buy that amazing cheese! And one day, I saw Xigalo at my parents’ fridge and I got excited when they told me they had bought it at Zouridakis food store at Varvakeios market!

So at one of our visits at Varvakeios, we visited Zouridakis store and I felt very nice when I saw a fridge full of this cheese! But at this delicatessen, you can find many amazing products that come from Crete.

Raki – the most important alcoholic drink of the island; bites with different tastes like oregano & oil, but also you can find “dolmadakia” and any kind of meat made in Crete, like the famous sausage with vinegar!
