El Rebost de la Plana – Pleasant dining amid palms

You’ll find this welcoming, family-owned restaurant in Gràcia, on a corner of the palm-dotted square, Plaça de Trilla, just off Gran de Gràcia, and very near Fontana metro station (Line 3-Green). It’s a five-minute stroll from Gaudí’s Casa Vicens.

I call in here now and then for lunch when out and about.

It’s a much larger restaurant than it appears from the outside. Its walls are bedecked with an interesting collection of paintings and photographs, and the rooms have a clean, airy feel. They have a cute interior patio, or you can choose a table on the square.

The food here—traditional Spanish and Catalan homestyle—is always very good and well presented. Service is very good, friendly, and often very quick.

The menú del día here offers very good value—for less than 12€ you’ll be served a first course, second course, with bread and a carafe of house wine, and a dessert or coffee.

The menú changes daily but typical offerings include: sopa de galets—chicken soup with pasta shells; spaghetti with clams; celery soup; garlic chicken with rice; chuletas de porc—two pork chops, or lomo—three fillets of pork with chips, and fish dishes such as rape—monkfish and merluza—hake. Or, you can order off an extensive menu.

If you’re looking for a satisfying, economical evening meal then they offer an evening fixed-price menu for 19,70€ which offers a slightly more sophisticated range of options and includes wine or beer, a dessert or coffee.

Bon profit!
