The East Village building is in the heart of Mar Mekhayel. It’s a building with beautiful architecture that stands out in its surrounding as a body and also as a character. I love it just the way it is.
It became a new architectural landmark of the Mar Mekhayel street. Once you’ve seen the building, you can never miss the location.
It’s a residential tower building designed by the Lebanese architect Jean Marc Bonfils; it won the first prize in Asia Architecture Awards in 2015.
What I find super-interesting is the creative use of conventional shapes. Each floor has its own character resulting from the various material applied to the facade.
The red boxes on top of a full green wall serve as a reintroduction of a more vertical and efficient green space that the whole community would enjoy.
On the lower ground there is galerie Tanit which is an art gallery originally based in Munich which recently opened in Lebanon as the first galerie Tanit in the Middle East.
