The only time I had visited The Grand Meshmosh Hotel was when my best friend thought he had COVID and needed an affordable yet nice place to stay while he tested and made sure he wouldn’t put his parents in harm’s way. That was in 2020; I gave myself a tour of the lounge, and some of the hallways and found myself sitting on the stairs nearby, communicating with him on a video call to check in.
Fast-forward to 2022, and I have rediscovered this place with a friend for drinks; I glanced at the menu, and it seemed to be diverse, offering some Lebanese delicacies and home-cooked meals – something I can’t wait to try during my next visit. We sat outside. The atmosphere made me feel like I had left Beirut, it was very charming in a very simple manner – nothing too extravagant, yet very cozy. There were those who were working, those chattering and laughing, and the staff. I loved that it wasn’t too loud or crowded, but just perfect.
Their canteen is a charming place for a quiet drink, a work session, or a meal with a friend.
