The bookshop Mala Akademija is situated in the city centre, just a few steps away from Knez Mihailova street. It is a cosy corner with amazing literature from all disciplines and genres, with shelves you can freely touch and explore.
However, here you won’t find only what you first think of when you hear/say books – there are also catalogues, chapbooks, maps, encyclopedias, memoirs, journals, documents, bibliographies, handbooks and other diverse publications. Some of them are antiques, some are rather hard to find, but all of them have been attentively chosen. Most of these are of course in Serbian, but some titles in English, Italian, German and French can be found as well.
People working in “Mala Akademija” are not only booksellers but also book lovers, and they will always kindly and knowingly help you, even if you don’t know precisely what you’re looking for. I remember one of my best friends was asking for a specific sci-fi book, in Cyrillic script (they did already have it in Latin) so they told him they wiould surely find a way to get it. A few months passed and he forgot all about it, but this kind lady from the bookstore called him all of a sudden and said that the book was waiting. Well, as you might have guessed by now, “Mala Akademija” is certainly worth a visit.
