Being a vegetarian or vegan in Serbia can be a challenge (when it comes to eating out). Let’s be honest, the cuisine in Serbia is very meat-based and if you eat out you will usually be limited to a very small part of the menu, the starters or legumes in one form or another.

That being said, there are more and more vegan and vegetarian places opening in Belgrade, but still not enough. Out of all of these places, without a doubt ‘Radost Fina Kuhinjica’ is my favorite one for several reasons, and the quality of the food being served is the main one.

The name itself translates to ‘Joy Fine Little Kitchen’ and it’s fitting – you feel very fine and joyous eating there. Located in a cozy apartment with dim light and a peaceful, low-key atmosphere you can enjoy either my favorite dish, the veggie lasagna, or one of the dishes of the day that the server will tell you right away (it’s not on the menu as it changes often).

It’s located just next to the Belgrade fortress but it’s not obvious right away that there is a restaurant inside the building, there is no sign but just follow the instructions on Google Maps and you will find it without much hassle. And when the weather permits, they have a lovely garden and that just makes it even more magical. If it’s Friday or the weekend be sure to message them on FB to make a reservation.
