I wrote ‘Home of the poppy’ because it sounds nice but also because the most traditional type of strudel – the thing they sell here – is poppy seed strudel. And I also really like the poppy flower. So three in one!

I have a sweet tooth, a serious one, it’s a borderline problem, but I would say this makes me an authority when it comes to where to find good sweets/desserts in Belgrade. And Štrudlica might just be in my top 3! And that says a lot. The main reason why it’s so high in my imaginary list is because of the Eurokrem (Serbian version of Nutela) cherry strudel that you will find here. It has the perfect balance of sweet, fruity and crunchy. Just perfect.

But the poppy seed strudel is a classic and should be eaten at least on every 3rd visit. Yes, I expect you to come back to this place because you will enjoy it so much. Inside the shop, you can see how they make all the goodies in the background while the nice staff helps you with choosing what to get.

They accept cards and are located just across Kalenić market where you can find a green market – flower market – flea market all in one. Something you should definitely not miss!
