Arminius Market – The piano, the fish & the bread

A piano is only one of 1001 things one can spot in between the cheese, bread and wine stands. Arminius Market is an over 5000 square meters beautiful hall, built at the end of 19th century, on the island of Moabit. The piano concerts take place every second Saturday, but the market does not cease to surprise beyond that, with other music and varieté events, various craft sales or other stories. This is where the palms sleep during winter – the market hosts the exotic trees among the stands, when it is too hard for them to cope with the Berlin cold in their usual beach bars around the city.

It seems anyway that everyone is here, from children to grandparents. Arminius Market is a place to meet locals, which somehow managed to stay off the beaten track. Above all, it is the diverse gastronomy – the small restaurants and cafes -which make you a loyal customer. Greek or Austrian cuisine, Italian pizza, fish and chips, marmalades, roasted nuts, Alabama smoked BBQ, local Berlin cuisine, big green olives, fresh juice, craft beer, international and German wines – it is all here.

Tip: Make sure to check their schedule in advance, given their events are so eclectic. Moreover, you can still find food courts open until 22:00 during week time, until midnight during the weekend, or even until the last guest.
