Having a cocktail in the midst of green; that can be a rare occurrence in Berlin. At Basalt you can do that all year round! This bar is truly committed to its color scheme, from the emerald colored counter and tiles to the real(!) plants spread all over the bar. “A Wedding interpretation of a botanical garden by night”, as Basalt calls themselves.
When it comes to cocktails, I am all about creativity. I love how Basalt manages to play with unusual ingredients and combinations. However, if you’re not feeling that experimental, they also know their classics. If you are looking for the middle ground, try a Berlin staple with a twist; the “Mezcal Mule”, which is truly amazing.
Given their high quality, cocktails at Basalt are on the upper price range. Nevertheless, the bar lacks the “awkward fanciness” you might find at other artisanal cocktail bars of Berlin. So, no bad looks if you prefer a cheaper beer or wine instead.
Whatever the drink, you might enjoy it either in their smoke-free front or at the (very cozy and pretty) smoker’s room in the back.
