Briefmarken is housed in a wedding cake-style building in Karl Marx Allee in Berlin. As you walk in, notice the walls and the old lamps. There is really nothing new, besides the pictures on the wall, added to this small space. The green letters shine outside, as they have for more than thirty something years now, and as they will for as long as they last, because they are part of the history of this area, a reminder of what this place once was, Briefmarken: a postage stamp shop.
Today, this so-called stamp shop is a cozy intimate restaurant run by Italians, who will be happy to guide you through their boundless wine assortment. Anything you like, really. Just say the first adjective that comes to mind. Maybe you want something earthy, or perhaps something with more fire. Yeah, they have it.
There is one daily food special, usually a delectable plate of pasta, as well as a variety of antipasti to accompany your choice of wine.
It is the perfect place to have a romantic dinner or just meet up with a friend for that evening chat, lovely atmosphere and the perfect glass of wine. It still holds that Berlin magic within it with an Italian flavour that adds just that little bit extra to your evening.
