The Domke Butcher Shop doesn’t look like much on the outside, but this popular Laden on the busy Warschauerstrasse is known for dishing up sizeable (if not gigantic) portions of some of the quintessential meat dishes like Gulash and potatoes, Bratwurst, Bouletten (meatballs), Schnitzel, even Chili con Carne, and a lot more.
It is one of the most visited eateries in the area, especially during lunchtime, when you will be hunting for a stool and sharing a small table with local workers. This is where the real Berliners go, builders, electricians and all the handy workers involved in the nitty-gritty of this city, where you’ll barely hear any English being spoken (though they’ll try their Berliner best) and the staff will ask you why you didn’t finish your meal, like concerned parents, while scooping it into a to-go container (whether you’ve asked for it or not), if you happen to get full before your plate is empty.
So if you’re hungry and love a hearty meaty meal, look no further. This is the real Berlin in here. So Guten Appetit!
