I liked kombucha before, not only because it is good for you but because there is something about that fizzy sour beverage that, when it is well prepared, leaves you wanting more. Kombucha is a fermented beverage made from SCOBY (symbiotic culture of acetic acid (vinegar) bacteria and yeast) and sweet tea. That’s the simple way to put it. But for anyone who has visited GUT GUT, it becomes quickly obvious that it is more. A whole lot more.
Adina, the founder of GUT GUT started experimenting with fermentation in her kitchen. She has now unveiled all that magic she created and started this shop, where she offers a variety of sparkling and refreshing variations with fresh and raw ingredients. It is colorful, exciting and guaranteed to change any sceptic’s opinion about fermentation.
My favorites are the Hot Thymes Cayenne and the Golden Sun Curcuma Kombuchas, just the right mix of citrusy and spicy ingredients to leave your tongue tingling and your taste buds begging you for more. But they also have kefir water, another type of grain-like culture of bacteria and yeast, mixed with other super-ingredients like spirulina or hybiscus.
But enough description. This shop is for anyone curious about the possibilities of new flavors or who simply wants something super refreshing to drink. Highly recommended. It looks like a fancy laboratory in there and you can take a peak at the process of it all as you search for your perfect combination.
