If you’re one of those people who love shops you can spend hours browsing through, then Modern Graphics should be included in your to-do list. As one of Berlin’s most esteemed specialty shops, it lives up to its reputation, offering an assortment of comic books, rare magazines, t-shirts and distinctive collector’s items related to the cartoon and comics world.
I happened upon it when I was looking for a birthday present down Oranienstrasse many years back. I must admit I’m not particularly into comic books but was properly seduced by the intricate selection ranging from books about book cover graphic design, unconventional magazines, postcards, tarot cards, stuffed Bart and Lisa Simpsons and all the superhero action figures you may wish for.
It’s hard to leave that cartoonish world — which may or may not nudge that little childhood nostalgia bone inside you — without a little something. It’s like a little magical world in there.
Visit any of their three locations around Berlin, but my very favorite one is the original one in Oranienstrasse, the one with that air of enchantment a little more infused in it.
