What started as organizing all-day breakfast events at unique locations around Berlin has now magically transformed into one of the most enjoyably piquant brunch experiences in the city.

Brunch is a big thing in Berlin these days. And it’s not hard to find hearty and delicious food if you know where to look. But Rocket and Basil quickly rose above the rest with its colorful choices. 

The two sisters who run it are German-Iranians who grew up in Australia. It is an important detail because it is the perfect amalgamation of these three that make this place such a treat: fresh, seasonal ingredients enhanced with creative flavor combinations. It comes across immediately when you enter the cafe and can feast your eyes on the colorful salad bar available for lunch.

For breakfast, try their aubergine and garlic turmeric spiced eggs, the bacon burger with harissa slaw —after which you will be licking your fingers clean— or the many other vibrant sweet choices: pistachio rosewater cake, tahini halva brownie and, if you’re lucky, they may even have that saffron cardamom and rosewater tiramisu.
