Zoo Palast is without a doubt THE best cinema in Berlin when it comes to technical quality and giving more bang for your buck.
It’s the only cinema in Berlin capable of projecting 70mm aside from Cinestar and UCI Kinowelt’s IMAX cinemas and it has them beat on style. I’ve been there for premieres of Interstellar, The Hateful 8, The Dark Knight Rises and most recently, Joker. Originally built in ’57 and renovated in 2010, they kept its original style from the same architect who built the Astor Film Lounge cinema so you can’t help but feel kinda swanky as you enter the foyer, leave your coats at the “garderobe” and enjoy a beverage, taking in the old school charm.
Upon entering, you’re treated to some surprisingly luxurious reclining seats with ample legroom before a grand velvety curtain. I won’t spoil it for you, but attendants at Zoo Palast cinema are famously treated to a state of the art pre-show that is sure to raise an eyebrow.
Zoo Palast is dedicated to bringing back going to the movies as an event in itself. These days high definition streaming services and easily accessible home theatre systems threaten the cinema business. This cinema does its best to give you good reason to leave your living room to go out to the cinema and enjoy the experience!
Tickets for 3D: €17. Βut going to a daytime Matinee screening will cost you only €9.
