Asino is a recent addition to the local bar scene. The name is a wordplay: Asino, the bar’s logo, means donkey in Italian and is a reference to the adjacent Casino (a cultural venue, no gambling 🙂 ).
This teensy weensy bar (I am not exaggerating here – due to the space constraints, I highly discourage you from bringing your ice hockey equipment, shepherd dog or weekly groceries along…) offers a fine selection of classic, newly interpreted and totally inventive cocktails. They are infused with homemade bitters, liquors, distillates and unexpected ingredients. Rye No1 is the bee’s knees in my opinion, with subtle hints of sesame oil and boletus. Of course, you can also quench your thirst Asino-style, if you are a beer, wine or soft drink lover.
Those who are still not convinced may be intrigued by Asino’s interior. The former boutique has a sublime tin counter, marble tables and an overall neo-retro touch.
Fun fact: If exceptional circumstances call for a cocktail on a Saturday morning, this is your place! Asino opens on 11 a.m. on Saturdays.
