One of the many advantages of living in the Länggass quarter is its proximity to the university buildings. Even though the neighborhood has undergone gentrification in the past years, you van still find some affordable eateries targeted at students. One of those is Curry Legend, a Sinhalese restaurant specialized in Ayurvedic food.
As you can expect from the name, they serve curry menus, consisting of different vegetable curries and your choice of meat or fish, if you opt for it. They only use fresh ingredients (Swiss meat). On top of that you can choose among traditional side dishes, which go far beyond the usual white rice. You find among others red country rice from Sri Lanka, soft coconut flat bread and steamed red rice noodles (string hoppers). The vegetable curry with the red country rice always hits the spot for me. All dishes taste great, but I like most that they are balanced and healthy at the same time. Also they are rather mild, so you can eat there even if you can’t handle spicy food.
Curry Legend is a casual restaurant with a familiar atmosphere. Going there I always feel a bit like being on an instant holiday, because the interior is from Sri Lanka.
