Strunk is a hidden gem in the Murifeld quarter in the east of town. It is located in a charming old building in a residential area. It’s not just the building that is charming, but also the owners, the atmosphere and the concept of the restaurant.
The main focus of the restaurant lies on locally and organically sourced ingredients, which are preserved to save them from going to waste. Those preserves find their way to a beautifully composed and colorful brunch buffet on Saturdays. A selection of the preserves can be bought on spot, making a great gift.
I enjoyed a very relaxing Saturday at Strunk’s and was very pleased with the inventive dishes. It is an awesome place to break out of the routine and to savor their creative concoctions in almost enchanted surroundings.
Also, if you are into fermenting and pickling, you can attend one of their workshops to learn more about preserves and create your own. I found the fermenting course entertaining and straightforward. I left the course very inspired and with plenty of ideas.
This is a small and cozy place, with limited opening times. It’s therefore recommended to make a reservation or to call ahead to check it they aren’t fully booked.
