Whenever I’m looking for an original, inventive present, I head to Yamatuti, a rather crammed shop in the upper part of the old town. Yamatuti offers a big selection of children’s clothes, home accessories you didn’t know you needed, toys for kids and grownups and a wide array of postcards and greeting cards. Everything is super colourful and of high quality; you won’t find cheap gimmicks that fall apart after only one use.
For their selection, the owners travel all around the world to find the craziest, most unique bits and pieces. A trained eye will always recognise a piece from Yamatuti in another person’s apartment.
I especially like the poster section in the back of Yamatuti; here you can find old school prints of maps or drawings of different animals or kitchen-themed placards made of enamel. And my nieces and nephews often get a fancy article of clothing when I just feel like bringing them a little gift.
