Anti-tourism street art

We’re trying to keep a close watch on what’s happening around the discussion about overtourism (read a bit more about what we think about the topic – and what we’re doing). As often the case with many social issues in cities, the distress was first documented on the streets with anti-tourism street art & graffiti.

Here’s a little collection of what we spotted in various cities. Some are funny, but many of them make us quite sad as they are so hostile and unfriendly. Comparing tourists with rats, ordering them to go back home, encouraging them to do balconing (and supposedly hoping they get hurt), “burn the Airbnb): not our style. But all the more reason to take these signs of distress by locals cause by overtourism seriously.
