Here’s an interview with Prague Spotter, Katerina Kaftanova! She has been living in Prague since the age of 18, when she came to study at Charles University.

We met Katerina in Prague a few years ago, and we’re very happy she helped us out a few months ago by starring in a KLM video for us!

“Currently I live in the neighborhood of Nusle, which I think is quite underrated, because in fact it is really close to the city centre and has many interesting spots. I have been working as an advertising executive and we just started a wedding design and planning startup with my husband. I like good food, traveling (ideally both of these mixed together) and discovering new places within Prague.”

How do you like being a Spotter?
I like being a Spotter a lot. Not only because I can share things (spots) I like about my city with other people, but when I’m traveling to other European cities, I’m always using Spotted by Locals tips as well because I prefer to discover the cities from a local perspective.

Why Prague? What is a must do when visiting Prague? What is not?
I think that the place that we live in can have an impact on the quality of our lives. I think I’m lucky to live in a city which has such an interesting and rich history, nice architecture and a hint of something special. When you visit Prague, the must is to have opened eyes and be open in general.

Be reasonable regarding the number of historic sights that you want to see in one day (seeing everything which is written in a guidebook is not really a must!) and allow yourself to get lost in the city. If you have more time, don’t hesitate to rent an apartment and try to discover the city not the tourist, but the local way.

Can you describe a perfect day in your city?
A perfect day in Prague for me is a nice spring (Saturday) day, when everything is in bloom and you can sit outside. In the morning, I would go to the market (Holesovickatrznice, hall 22, pictured at beginning). For lunch, I would go to Cafe de Paris for some steak and frites and on to relax at the Vojanovy sady park. And on the way home, I would stop by at Ovocny Svetozor for a chlebicek (or a cake).

Is there anything else you’d like to share?
Since my family supposed to be growing to three this year, I think that this will add a new dimension to my Spotted by Locals articles :-)!
