On our frequent trips around cities in Europe, we see more and more pop-up stores – temporary shops sprouting up and disappearing within a few days or weeks (or the same day, like the “pop-up poem store” pictured above).
The pop-up shop has been an urban trend for a while in the US and the UK for a while now (the nice website Trendspotting.com spotted this trend in 2004 already). Tommy Hilfiger has been very successful with its traveling pop-up cottage store in the US.
Mainland Europe seems to be catching on quickly! Our Spotters have spotted this trend before us of course, and have written about a variety of pop-up stores in various cities in the last few years. As these Pop-up stores have moved or closed down in the meantime, the articles are no longer online (all our tips are always up-to-date!).
Our Hamburg Spotter Louise Kunth created a pop-up magazine store for her company Here-We-Go at Das Magazin last year.
What do you think of the pop-up store phenomenon? Have you spotted a nice one in your city? Let us know in the comments!
