The EU has created a useful iPhone app that informs you of your rights when traveling.
So forget being taken advantage of by airlines or other types of transport like the train (in 2013 bus and water travel will be added). The app gives the user advice on their rights in a situation. Before you’ve bought your ticket, when the flight times are changed or the flight is canceled, or when you’re denied boarding for whatever reason.
It needs to be said to though that sometimes the answer will be that the situation at hand does not fall under the European Legislation therefore you need to check the terms and conditions on your ticket. Or, and you’ve seen it before, you can demand restitution BUT it depends on the circumstances. So really you’re none the wiser in those cases.
Still, it’s a nifty app (and free) to have to help fight your battles when you’re traveling.
