She might be half Ukrainian and half Russian, but she feels 100% Kiev. Her favorite thing to do is running and we agree this is one of the best ways to explore any city! Although Olena loves to travel, there is no place like home that offers her true inspiration. Kiev is a city that is characterized by its historical districts, mixed with a modern heartbeat. And this combination is reflected in all its citizens.
The travelers that she has met in her hometown, all seem to have one thing in common: they fell in love with the city and wish to stay longer. Maybe after reading some of her articles, you might fall in love too.
Here are some of Olena’s favorite local spots:
”Here we go. We’ve got a triple match: a gym with sport activities currently on demand, a marvellous location, nice snacks on site and the best coffee right outside the door. A healthy snack/smoothie bar EatIt is on site in the reception area, where you can also stay and work a bit and watch people rushing by to their offices. By the way, 2 of the 4 walls of the TRX room are clear glass – one facing reception and the other the street. You have to put in double the effort now – to look sexy and strong :).”

”CHI is very fancy. The best spot in town with a huge terrace facing the deep woods on the Pechersk hills. It is an Indo-Chinese restaurant during the daytime, with the London Hakkasan chef managing the menu. He cooks fresh dim sums, clay-pot dishes, Ceviches and Indian parata. At night the club is full of beautiful people with different purposes. Popular DJs from overseas are brought here to play their sets. ”

”Yes, if you love hats like I do, you should come here. This local brand keeps an eye on the latest trends and has tons of different forms and styles. The latest collection for girls, which is brand new, is the Ethno one made not of straw, but of pure linen, with traditional Ukrainian embroidery. Imagine a classic boater hat like this! Another significant advantage is that Shapelie creates hats for other more expensive brands, and you can get a trendy high quality item for less. It’s a nice impression to take home with you from the Ukraine.”
