Ok, ok, I might be fudging the rules a tiny bit here – TECHNICALLY, Bianchi’s is located on Revere Beach, not in Boston. However, the beach is easily reached on the MBTA blue line, making it, and Bianchi’s, a popular place to be in the summer.
And Bianchi’s has been popular for a long, long time. This tiny, counter-serve pizza joint opened in 1950, and has been raved about by beachgoers since then. Bianchi’s menu is simple – cheese, extra cheese, or even more cheese, along with a few topping choices – but incredibly delicious. You can either grab a single, humongous $3 slice to munch on while you wander down the beach, or a $12 pizza to share with a couple buddies while you watch the sunset. Bianchi’s is notoriously no-frills, so there’s no restaurant seating, but there are plenty of places to sit just across the street with a nice view of the ocean.
Unfortunately, after nearly 70 years in business, Bianchi’s is closing down after Labor Day 2018 due to the development of an apartment complex. They’re in talks to re-open elsewhere, where I’m sure their business will still be booming. However, I suggest getting the original Bianchi’s experience while you can! It’s well worth it.
