If there’s any place in Boston that still makes me feel like a tourist, it’s the Seaport district. Though I’ve lived in Boston for just a couple years, even I’m astounded at the pace at which this neighborhood has emerged as one of the hippest destinations for nightlife in Boston. There are many great establishments in the Seaport, but I personally feel that no visit is complete without a stop at Committee, a Greek restaurant and bar that serves up some of the best meze I’ve had in Boston.
I can confidently say I’ve never been to Committee and NOT had a great time. The food is fresh, the small plates easy for sharing, and the options sufficient for vegetarians and gluten free eaters (ask for the gluten free menu!). Vegans may have some difficulty due to the pervasiveness of cheese, yogurt, and honey throughout the menu, so I’d recommend perusing the menu online before visiting.
The food aside, Committee is well worth the visit for the inspired tiki cocktails, industrial-chic decor (think exposed filament bulbs, reclaimed wood, and a bathroom floor covered with real pennies), and the trendy, good-looking crowd. Kardashian fans (and closeted ones like me) may be interested to hear that I once spotted Brody Jenner here one Saturday night.
Though I can’t guarantee another celebrity sighting at Committee, I can guarantee delicious food, creative cocktails, and a great time. Come on down for the perfect night out — and don’t forget to Instagram the bathroom floor!
