Don’t be fooled by this popular tequila bar’s sexy, sophisticated atmosphere: the red damask wallpaper, wrought iron fences, exposed brick, and elegant chandeliers will make you feel like you’ve entered an exclusive club, but rest assured that all are welcome at this hidden gem.
Just steps from Copley Square, Lolita is the perfect place to come for a casual drink, a hot date, a special celebration, or prior to a night at the club. All meals begin with a grapefruit ice palate cleanser cooled by dry ice — with a generous splash of tequila (for those over 21) poured by your server. Complimentary corn chips are served with a sampling of three different salsas, and the check comes with a large cloud of cotton candy topped with Pop Rocks.
Whether you’re seeking small plates, entrees, or feasts for groups of two or more, Lolita’s menu satisfies all crowds and appetites. Vegetarians will be happy to find a number of options like cauliflower tacos (my favorite), while meat and seafood lovers will be satisfied by pork carnitas tacos, carne asada, seared scallops, and more. For the gluten free crowd, corn tortillas are available upon request. Be sure to try the diablo margarita, which has a nice kick from some serrano chili.
One of the best features of Lolita is the free coat check. Seriously, free coat checks are a rare find in Boston, so you no longer have any excuses not to go. Check out Lolita’s new location in Fort Point as well!
